I was surprised and very happy last evening to discover that Sam from 5th Wheel Vagabonds (fellow RVer, blogger, & Missourian) has not only the same birthday as me, but we were actually born the same year. I’ve only met one other person with the exact same birth day & year as me — & we were 7 years old at the time!
I also just discovered that Kevin & Ruth from Travel with Kevin & Ruth have a brand new grandson, Cameron, born on April Fool’s Day.
I don’t believe I went to school with mean kids (especially not by today’s examples), but I got seriously tired & annoyed from the comments I received thru the years about my birthday. (Like I had a choice???) So sometime thru the years, I started making a comment BEFORE someone else stuck their foot in their mouth, “Yeah, I’m an April Fool. Do you know what kind you are?” That pretty much put the brakes on inconsiderate comments. I’ve also always wondered if my dislike for practical jokes is somehow tied to all the foolishness associated with April Fool’s Day. I don’t feel any of it is funny. I mean, come on, this is my special, almost sacred day, & someone wants to play a prank on me? Not a good thing!
In all reality, I don’t really like to celebrate my birthday — it’s more of an anniversary for me & a time of reflection. I spent much of the day visiting with my elderly parents. I’m so very thankful to have lived this long, survived breast cancer, and had the opportunity to live, learn, and love with great passion thru the years. In spite of some bad choices in life, I wouldn’t change a thing because I’m who I am because of my experiences (the good, the bad, & the ugly).
Whenever your birthday is, I hope you enjoy the gift.
Thank you for stopping by to follow my adventures (& misadventures) since Jume 2011 as I travel & live fulltime in a 17' Liberty Deluxe Casita (a molded fiberglass travel trailer). This is a history of my experiences & hopefully will provide help to others with the same dreams. Hope to meet you down the road sometime.
Actually my Mom was fooled , she had twins she did't know she was going to have. I have an identical twin brother, who lives in St Peters MO. and doesn't talk to us. Neat huh, Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.....
