Trip to Durango

Woo hoo — we had Saturday and Sunday off work. So, Saturday morning, we ventured west about an hour to Durango, CO. It’s a fairly easy drive and very scenic, dropping about 1,000 feet in elevation from Pagosa Springs. We're looking forward to visiting Chimney Rock not far from Pagosa Springs along Hwy 160. Click this photo to see some of the photos I took along the trip.

We’ve visited with FOUR other Casita owners here at the park in just this week. And I can’t remember anyone’s name except for meeting PackRat (Don) from the Casita Forum. Wow, they’ve really modified their 2010 Spirit beautifully. It’s very livable & practical.  I also got the idea from another couple (you know who you are) to put a clear plastic runner over the carpet. We’re not anxious to rip out the carpet and I’m afraid of laminate flooring due to spills & moisture.

So while in Durango, we went to Home Depot and bought a 12’ roll (nearly as cheap as buying less by the foot) for $11 something of clear vinyl runner with the spikes on the bottom to hold it in place. It cuts easily with scissors so it wasn’t hard to custom fit it around the bathroom/closet door irregularity. I also cut it at the edge of the galley/refrigerator because the isle jogs sideways under the bed. I used clear tape to secure the edges together & ran the rest of the roll under the bed. Sure helps slide the stuff in and out of there easier. I think we’re gona love this.

Other than going to Durango & getting the vinyl put down, we’ve had a pretty lazy weekend. Woke up to clouds & occasional drizzle — just perfect for an afternoon nap, so the temps have been totally comfortable today! Since this workkamping lifestyle is a little risky if you don’t know where you’re going, we’re pretty happy working at this campground. I’ve so enjoyed talking with some of the campers about dogs, campers, photography, & computers.
