City of Rocks State Park, Silver City NM

Getting caught up again with this. We finally dislodged ourselves from the comfort of Twin Buttes RV, near Douglas AZ & actually got out of AZ (after nearly 3 months). We finally had the daylight savings time change getting into NM since AZ simply changes time zones.
First we went north of Lordsburg, then over the mountains to Silver City — good sized town with many of our favorite stores (Wal-Mart, Pizza Hut, KFC, & TSC (Tractor Supply Co [none in AZ] for cat/dog food & lots of good inexpensive RV/camping supplies). It was cooler, higher, mountainous, & had tall trees & green grass (things I’m seriously missing). Noticed some red bud & Bradford Pear trees in full bloom too. Yee haw, it finally looks like Spring somewhere in the US now.
Heading south from Silver City along Hwy 80 sure gets back into the flat, dusty desert quickly, so finally arriving at City of Rocks State Park & seeing the rocks was awesome.

While looking for a campsite, we spied another Casita & just HAD to stop to say hi. It was Sebastian & his two cats (M & M) of Simple Casita Living blog. He has the coolest cat cage set up on the outside of the egress window so his kitties can be outside comfortably. He’s about to get a different trailer tho & selling his Casita.
I also got to meet & talk with Barbara & Katie of Me & My Dog blog. She definitely has perfected art of woman solo fulltiming.
The rocks are amazing. Definitely worth the trip to visit. You can wander all over, up, & around the rocks. There are a number of balanced rocks too — & very odd shapes.

We had a nice level spot along the outside of the loop around the Rocks. I liked several of the sites snuggled in amongst the rocks but we needed good exposure for the solar panels & TV satellite dish.

Our site on the west side of the Park provided good views of the sunsets.

Next, we moved to a little boondocking spot east of Cloudcroft NM.
